Lavactory operates on a discovery-driven forging system where no recipe list is handed to the player. Instead, the game tracks every sequence of actions — hitting, heating, folding, twisting, bending, and quenching — and evaluates each combination against hidden quality thresholds. The Forge Quality meter responds in real time as you apply techniques, rewarding correct sequences and punishing incorrect ones with degraded quality scores.
Material selection sits at the foundation of every forging session. The cheapest metals respond predictably, making them ideal for learning fundamental sequences. Rarer materials — gold and beyond — introduce different thermal properties and resistance values, demanding adapted techniques. A sequence that produces a quality-5 hexagonal nut from iron may yield nothing but scrap from a higher-tier alloy without adjustments.
The temperature system adds a second layer of constraint. The forge runs at 1200°C during heating phases, and every action taken consumes heat at different rates. Quenching drops temperature rapidly, creating a tactical decision: hold heat for another fold, or lock in the current shape. The Heat percentage indicator (0–100%) provides the only real-time data point, making temperature management as critical as technique selection.
The forge gives you six core actions — hitting, heating, folding, twisting, bending, and quenching — but never tells you how to combine them. Every part in the catalog has a hidden sequence, and you find it through systematic trial and error. Your failed attempts are not wasted; they narrow the possibility space for the next session.
Begin forging with inexpensive dark-gray iron at 10 coins, work toward silver-grade alloys at 50 coins, and eventually unlock gold-tier metals at 500 coins and the rare blue material at 1000 coins. Each tier behaves differently under heat and hammer, requiring you to adapt your discovered sequences rather than apply them blindly across all materials.
Every completed part receives a quality rating from 0 to 5. A Forge Quality of 5 represents a perfect execution of the hidden recipe, indicated by a fully filled green progress bar. Parts crafted at maximum quality command premium sell prices — a quality-5 hexagonal nut sells for 71 coins compared to the drastically lower returns from poor-quality forgings.
Successfully forged parts convert directly into coins. The 121-coin balance visible in high-quality sessions reflects accumulated sales from multiple parts. This economy gates access to premium materials: you cannot reach gold or blue-tier ingots until you have mastered enough recipes to generate sufficient coin income from lower-tier materials.
Your collection screen tracks every discovered part across a 5x3 grid. Undiscovered items display as orange-lit question marks — the fiery glow indicating an unsolved mystery. Revealed items show their actual metallic form: a silver bowl, a gear, a hexagonal nut. Completing the catalog requires mastering every material and technique combination the forge contains.
The game is built around tactile immersion: brick furnace walls, hanging chains, lanterns, wooden barrels, stone anvils, and a temperature display locked at 1200°C. The visual feedback of orange heat, glowing ingots on the circular stone platform, and the SUCCESS screen in neon green creates a satisfying feedback loop that rewards persistence and experimentation.
